Atkins Diet at Home Review
What is it?
Atkins Diet at Home is a diet plan that delivers Atkins style high protein, low carb meals straight to your door. The program has been endorsed by Atkins Nutritionals and is implemented by PurFoods, Inc. Meals are planned by a registered dietitian and prepared by a culinary team overseen by an executive chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America.
How does it work?
Atkins at Home foods are prepared fresh according to your selection of a 20 gram or 40 gram carbohydrate program, sealed, and shipped in a cooler directly to your door once a week via FedEx. The meals are guaranteed fresh for up to ten days in your refrigerator. The Atkins Diet at Home plan provides 14 days of different meal selections. The program requires that you place your order for a full 28 days at a time by choosing either the 5-day or 7-day a week option. Meals are delivered ready to heat and eat. The plan boasts software capable of eliminating and selecting meals based on your preferences and any food allergies and aversions you may have.
What kind of food will I eat?
The Atkins at Home plan includes a variety of meal selections such as Peach Breakfast Pudding, Chicken Caesar Salad, Pork with Creamy Mustard Sauce, Lemon Rosemary Chicken, and Chicken Breast Parmesan. Sides include salad, green beans, spaghetti squash, rosemary vegetables, and roasted asparagus. Snacks and desserts are included and range from nuts to cheesecake, to snack bars and grapes. All meals are low in carbohydrates and high in protein according to Adkins specifications.
What does it cost?
The Atkins at Home plan costs $34.95 per day and must orders must be placed for 28 days at a time. Clients can order by phone, fax, or online and substitutions can be made up to 7 days in advance of preparation and shipment. If you go out of town, delivery can be stopped with seven days notice and then resumed with a credit for days off.

Pros and Cons
Atkins at Home rates are a bit high at $34.95 per meal and the requirement of ordering 28 days at a time may price the plan out of reach of most dieters. $1000 a month is more than most grocery budgets unless you are an affluent dieter. The plan also lacks an exercise component which means that you must devise one yourself and stick to it. The only mention of exercise on the site at all is in the testimonials section. Sure, weight loss can be achieved without regular exercise, but diets that include a sensible exercise plan are usually more successful. The plan does come with menus that teach the dieter about portion size and control and offers a bit more for the sweet tooth than some other deliver-to-your-home diets. The plan is somewhat customizable but not nearly as much as some other diet plans with only two net carb options and no calorie-based options. Options are for three meals a day only for either 5 or 7 days, so if you are a two-meal-a-day eater, you will be left with extra meals.
