Inches A Weigh Review
What is it?
The Inches A Weigh weight loss program is a complete, three phase diet and exercise program that is geared specifically toward women ages 40 and over. One of the only diet centers to offer fitness and nutrition to women only, Inches A Weigh includes progressive activities and one-hour classes to ensure guaranteed results.
How does it work?
Phase One of Inches A Weigh involves the development of a healthy eating plan geared for the entire family based on the guidelines of the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and American Dietetic Association. The plan includes 50% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 20% fat. Phase Two incorporates low-exertion resistance exercise that is designed to gradually replace excess fat with lean muscle and prepare the body for the next phase. Phase Three uses aerobic equipment such as treadmills, bicycles and light free weights to condition both the heart and all of the major muscle groups. Once Phase Three is completed, the member will have learned everything she will need for a lifetime of fitness.
What kind of food will I eat?
Although Inches A Weigh avoids the use of the word diet, their plan is intended to help women eat right and lose weight. Members are instructed in how to create and prepare healthy, low-fat meals for themselves and their families. There are no prepackaged foods; only the incorporation of regular, supermarket foods into a low-calorie menu. Inches A Weigh has a “café” where they sell optional protein drinks, nutrition bars, and nutritional supplements.
What does it cost?
The cost of membership is approximately $50.00 a week and Inches A Weigh members are encouraged to complete a full year of the program to achieve maximum results and then to continue with a maintenance plan indefinitely.
Support
The Inches A Weigh program provides support for all areas of dieting and fitness for the over 40 woman. The plan includes a fitness analysis, nutritional evaluation, medical history, weekly weigh-in, one-on-one support, computerized diet analysis, individual menu planning, behavior modification clinics, and complete instruction on the use of the center’s equipment.
Other
The plan guarantees a weight loss of 1.5 pounds per week during Phase One, eight to fifteen inches lost during Phase Two, and the achievement of the member’s goal weight during Phase Three. Inches A Weigh addresses the emotional and technical issues of weight loss with its dual approach of in-depth counseling and instruction.
Pros and Cons
Although definitely pricey, Inches A Weigh is a complete head-to-toe makeover for the weight and diet challenged woman. Designed to meet the special dietary, exercise, and motivational needs of women over forty, the Inches A Weigh program uses a well researched format and state of the art equipment to help women overcome obesity; what they call an emotional and behavioral disorder. The program is very scientific with a host of literature and guidance on weight loss, recipes, and label-reading so that their clients can enjoy a healthier, more active lifestyle. This women-only format goes farther than the general weight loss or fitness center by combining both under one roof.
